Gitcoin's Featured Rounds

Projects to Watch

The deadline for applying to most Gitcoin rounds is upon us, and a series of exciting Featured Rounds are coming up, including DeSci, Metacrisis, Web3 Social, ENS, Token Engineering, Sybil Resistance, and more. Gitcoin defines Featured Rounds as:

…primarily operated by external parties (most akin to our legacy "ecosystem rounds") that are mission-aligned partners. We believe showcasing more rounds alongside the quarterly Gitcoin Grants Program as one cohesive event will create network effects that benefit all communities involved.

Gitcoin DAO

In this blog post, we highlight some of the standout projects that have applied for these Featured Rounds, mostly focusing on DeSci. The deadline for the DeSci round is coming up on the 24th so make sure to get your applications in and keep an eye out for these exciting projects.

DeSci NYC (DeSci)

DeSci NYC is a community-driven initiative focusing on democratizing the scientific process through monthly meetups in partnership with dbDAO. The group has seen growing interest from the community and shares recorded talks online, engaging beginners and providing food and drinks at events.

Sci2Sci (DeSci)

Sci2Sci (“Scientist-to-Scientist”) builds infrastructure for decentralized data sharing between researchers, aiming to make FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data principles a default in scientists' daily routines. All funds raised will go towards the platform's development.

Fractal Flows (DeSci)

Fractal Flows is a decentralized science application that leverages human-AI interactions to create consensus reports on scientific claims using aggregated and curated hard evidence or "knowledge bits." Contributors can earn IP-NFT fractions as rewards, generating potential profit from report sales or trading in a decentralized market.

Mycelia (Metacrisis)

Mycelia's project tackles the limitations of nation-states and territorial jurisdiction in web3 economies and global crises like climate change. By utilizing the legitimacy and sovereignty of indigenous peoples, Mycelia aims to create non-territorial, digital, and global open jurisdictions, incentivizing R&D on indigenous rights and supporting indigenous web3 projects.

ResearchHub Foundation (DeSci)

ResearchHub Foundation supports Research Hub which aims to accelerate scientific research by creating a modern mobile and web application for efficient collaboration on scientific research, similar to GitHub's impact on software engineering. Founded by Brian Armstrong, and Patrick Joyce with Jeffrey Koury supporting the foundation, ResearchHub is determined to revolutionize the way we approach scientific collaboration.

AthenaDAO (DeSci)

After successfully completing a Reproductive Health Report on Ovarian Aging with funds from GR15, AthenaDAO is launching a new report focused on PCOS and Endometriosis, two under-researched diseases with significant impacts on women's health and fertility.

Cannabis Genome DAO (DeSci)

Cannabis Genome DAO seeks to preserve the diverse genetic heritage of cannabis plants and promote open access to the cannabis genome. The project aims to democratize information and technology access through Cannabis Genome DAO.

LunCo (DeSci)

LunCo is revolutionizing lunar exploration by making space missions accessible to all. By providing open-source engineering software, LunCo aims to democratize space exploration and empower everyone to contribute to this exciting frontier.

and us!

We strive to revolutionize today's funding mechanisms for basic research, which are often biased, opaque, and inefficient. Our platform utilizes quadratic funding and other blockchain-powered models to identify and fund the most impactful early-stage research projects.
